If we look at examples in which countries Riley Testut’s popular Delta emulator is now available on the App Store. This emulator can emulate games like Game Boy Pocket, Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), and Nintendo 64. According to Macrumors, Sayad Provenance will be the first to release emulators like Sony, SEGA, and Atari on the App Store if it gets approval.
Provenance has been in development since at least 2016, and is already available on the App Store for iPhone and Apple TV as a sideload.
Apple has recently updated its new app review guidelines to allow “retro game console emulator apps” for its iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other devices. Here Apple mentions that it has allowed Eliminator to load games on the App Store, but notice here that only that app is of “retro console game”. Here it is also not entirely clear that console emulators like GameCube and Wii should not be considered “Retro”.
